Do Your Part
Black Girls Rock was such a great experience. I wish I had a program like that for me when I was growing up.
The Black Girls Rock “Queens Camp” 2013 ended today and we helped with the girls graduation set up. I learned so much about the program from the college intern Renee. She says its very competitive and there are only 23 spots for the camp. Each girl has to turn in a video, two essays and go through an interview process to be a part of the Queen’s Camp.
Beverly Bond is a great mentor for the girls. She spoke so strongly about bringing the girls up to be the next generation. Just like Ms. Reid, Ms. Bond has found what she wants to do to give back to the world. The Reid Group program is such a great experience for us and a lot of people we meet say they wish they had a program like this when they were growing up. It is the same thing for BGR. I wish I had people pushing me to be greater and love the skin I was in. Ms. Bond and Ms.Reid are doing their part and impacting young black girls lives so much that I don’t think they know how blessed they will be.
